The client seeked to develop the local shopping precinct of the suburban neighbourhood setting of Forestville. He had owned the site for some time, but the building was slowly deteriorating and there were several vacant shops. A decision was made to invest, and breathe some new life into the busy precinct by way of four (larger) shops, with residential accommodation above.
Each shop featured folding stacking glass doors to the street, and included rear access for deliveries, along with basement parking. The accommodation, split over two storeys, features north facing living and a deck overlooking Duke St and bedrooms on the upper floor. A series of landscaped roof elements help transition to the neighbouring dwellings.
