The brief for this heritage listed Victorian Cottage was to primarily provide a study in order to reclaim the dining table. The opportunity was taken to update the bathrooms and laundry, allowing for improved ventilation and light. The objective was to retain the existing building envelope and integrity of the original house with minimal intervention, enabling maximum amenity for a modest budget.
The new study designed with fully openable windows, creating an impression of a workplace in the garden and making it appear much more spacious than the existing house allowed. The space was equipped with shelving over the window and custom joinery under-desk to fully utilise the space.
A highlight louvre window in the bathroom allows views into the palm canopy and adequately ventilates the space.
